We present an architectural proposal that seeks to integrate outdoor and indoor spaces. Wide open-air spaces for community use, streets or squares or intercommunicated interiors that expand their light through the houses. It aims to be an exercise in synthesis of the courtyard and street of the historic centres, dense, fresh and lively. The aim is to recover the link between the house and the street, understood as a courtyard-terrace-plaza for people. The main reasons for the project are:
  • To give an image of unity of the built-up area over and above the repeated house unit.
  • Characterise the building by first assessing the architectural and visual quality of the whole, a criterion that directly improves the quality of each house due to its position and relationship with the whole.
  • Versatility of the house proposal, both in internal reorganisation and in typology and surface exchange with the neighbourhoods, whether from the sides, above or below.
  • An image of lightness, subtlety… that the construction shows a certain compositional freedom, apparently arbitrary or visceral.
In order to give shape to the building, a geometric model was studied: a repeated module of 3.20 x 3.20 x 3.20m. The site has been filled with this three-dimensional geometric mesh. The building takes shape by the addition or extraction of constructed modules. In the same way, the different sizes and types of houses are created by the use assigned to each unit.
