A HOUSE WITH ART

We present you the integral rehabilitation of an old warehouse converted into a detached house with swimming pool. The house is located in the interior of Manacor, a flat environment with no special views, surrounded by “traditional” buildings. The developer, an art lover, contacted Brunet Arquitectes with the intention, not only to update and give a new use to an old building, but also to create a special building.

In the process of reconverting the building, the volume was maintained, adapting it to the new needs of the owner. Thus, the garage was located on the ground floor and the living area on the following floors. On the first floor, the day area and on the second floor, the night area. Finally, the third floor was used as a multi-purpose space or studio to house the large number of books and works of art that the owner owns. Externally, the building was designed in a similar way on both fronts. They are characterised by two horizontal strips modulated vertically by warm-coloured glass panels, which flood the interior of this house with polychrome reflections and contrasts of light and shadow. The interior presents a much more sober and simple formulation, with contrasts of light and works of art being the main ornaments of the space.
