We have learned that a Swiss philosopher, Mr. Alain de Botton, has started a holiday home rental company in London. So far so normal! The news is that he builds his houses with the designs of renowned international architects (Zumthor, MVRDV, Hopkins…).
Its aim is to disseminate contemporary architecture and make possible the experience of living in an environment to which few have access. A modern space full of positive energy, different from the standardised house where most people live. The aim is to promote unique environments that help to improve the quality of domestic life.
It seems that the initiative came after the London-based media thinker wrote the book The Architecture of Happiness, in which he discovered how relevant the physical environment is to our well-being…
Architecture is not neutral, it is not an aseptic container, but a crucial element of our state of mind.
