Naked Essence: Sophisticated Renovation in a Single Family Corner

In the renovation of this single-family home between party walls on a corner, the philosophy of “stripping the building bare and only covering up the necessary areas, leaving the essence of the existing materials” stands out. The main volume and the materials of the original exposed marés façade are preserved. The demolition of a porch in the rear courtyard was carried out, maintaining and reforming the remaining constructions. The interior is conserved with its marés walls, enlarging the openings to the various rooms. A central access space is created for the dining room and entrance hall, and bedrooms, bathrooms and a covered terrace are strategically distributed. The architecture prioritises spaciousness, seclusion, good perspective, controlled natural light and spatial healthiness.
